Al Qushairi Tafsir

[2:132] And Abraham enjoined upon his sons this, and [so did] Jacob, 'My sons, God has chosen for you the [true] religion, see that you die not save in submission.
He related that Abraham (ʿa) enjoined his sons, as did Jacob (ʿa), saying 'Do not let death come upon you except in the state of submission (islām)'. Their laws, even if they differed in acts, were of one origin. The drinking place of declaring oneness (tawḥīd) is not divided into two. God Most High's words: God has chosen for you the [true] religion was good news in strengthening their desire, in their supplications, for what He had charged them with in submitting (islām), because when they realized that God (s) had chosen them for that, they knew that without doubt He would help them and make it easy for them to perform the just claim of submission (islām).
